Story Time

Summer Children's Story Hour

Through Memorial Day to Labor Day, each Saturday at 11:00 am; The Muffin Man, co-owner Kevin Kager, reads his favorite picture books on the beachside. He is sure to have kids (and adults) laughing and cheering to his read-aloud antics! This is weather dependent, so be sure to follow us on social media for updates!

*Due to beach rock, accessibility can be difficult.

Author Talks

Author Jeremy Norton speaks to a full house for memoir "Trauma Sponges"

Our Author Talks are intimate presentations and discussions held indoors at Drury Lane, from 6:00-7:30 pm.

The North Shore of Lake Superior and our region are home to many great authors and stories. Local history, murder mysteries, poetry, historical fiction, Native Ojibwe stories, and more! At our events, the author reads from their book, discusses the writing process, and takes questions from the audience. Meet your favorite authors and get a signed book.

Molly Beth Griffin and Meleck Davis sit by their book in front of a window overlooking Lake Superior, they are smiling.

Author Meet and Greets

Our Meet and Greets occur while the store is open and provide a great opportunity to casually chat and have books signed by the Author, without a long time commitment! Guests are welcome to drop by any time during the two hours. We host Meet and Greets from 11:00 am-1:00 pm, unless otherwise specified.

Full Moon Readings

It is dusk, a large group of people gather around a campfire and listen to a singer speaker reciting poetry in front of Drury Lane.

We host bonfire literary readings during each full moon, all year! This is an open community bonfire where all are encouraged to share a favorite piece of prose or literature. There are no limits to the topics shared; fishing and hiking poems, rants and heated slams, philosophical musings, saccharine love poems, shadow work and gothic prose, a touching moment from a novel, a silly gut busting kids story- we welcome it all! When possible, local and regional poets will be given the lead and the remaining portion will be open mic.

Check our event calendar for precise dates and times.

*Due to beach rock, accessibility can be difficult.

Is your poetry journal overflowing and you need an outlet for sharing?

Drury Lane Book Club Meetings

Each month, at 5:00 pm on the third Sunday, we host a cozy in-person book club for all to join! Our January meeting is always devoted to picking books for the year, members and staff choose together. If you only have time or interest in a single book, or if you want to commit to the whole reading list, if you are a devout Drury Lane Local or if you happen to be passing through- we welcome it all!

Life can be chaotic, and it can be tough to remember the third Sunday, so we set up a reminder option:

Email store@drurylanebooks.com and ask to be added to our Book Club email reminder list. Due to busy summer schedules, we do not meet in August.
